Opaque Smart Glass completed a custom PDLC smart film installation for a modern conference room at Geller’s office at 99 Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York.
The conference room features expansive floor-to-ceiling glass partitions, including a distinctive curved glass section that complements the office’s contemporary architectural design. To provide on-demand privacy without compromising the open, sophisticated appearance of the space, Opaque installed switchable smart film across both the straight and curved glass surfaces.
With the flip of a switch, the glass transitions from transparent to frosted, creating a private environment for executive meetings, presentations, and confidential discussions. When privacy is no longer needed, the glass returns to its clear state, restoring visibility throughout the office.
Smart Film Installation on Curved Glass
One of the most distinctive features of this project is the application of PDLC smart film to curved glass.
Unlike conventional flat glass partitions, curved glass requires careful planning, precise measurements, and specialized installation techniques to achieve a clean, professional appearance.
By incorporating switchable smart film into the curved section, Opaque preserved the conference room’s architectural design while extending privacy functionality across the glass enclosure.
Instant Privacy Without Blinds or Curtains
The completed installation offers a flexible solution for a busy commercial office. Employees can switch the conference room glass between clear and frosted as needed, without relying on traditional blinds, shades, or curtains.
The result is a modern meeting space that combines architectural elegance, natural light, and convenient privacy control.
This New York City project demonstrates how smart film can be integrated into custom commercial glass partitions, including curved architectural glass, to meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
